AUMORE WOOL BLANKETS
BLANKET CARE INSTRUCTIONS
As the majority of Aumore Wool Underblankets are larger than a single bed size, they need to be dry-cleaned.
This is due to the size and subsequent weight of the underblanket once it is wet. Attempting to launder it in a washing machine could damage both the washing machine and the blanket itself.
Once you receive the woollen underblanket back from the drycleaner, Aumore Wool recommends brushing the wool pile, as this helps to maintain its springiness and softness over the long-term. To do this well, please use a stiff bristled brush or comb and brush in all directions, both when the blanket is still a little moist, and after it is completely dry.
In between dry cleaning visits Aumore Wool suggests regularly airing out and shaking the blanket seasonally, as this also helps to maintain the wool’s loft. As the underblanket may still be moist after dry cleaning, we believe airing it out afterwards is of importance.
To air out your underblanket, simply hang it over a clothesline on a sunny day with a gentle breeze. This process helps to remove any excess dust, skin scales, dust mites, and dust mite faeces. The best time of the day for airing out your blanket is between 10:00am and 2:00pm, as this is often the hottest time of the day, and there is less pollen activity if you do suffer from hay fever.
To make sure the underblanket is as clean as possible, feel free to use a tennis racket (or any other type of racquet or paddle) to softly beat both sides of the blanket. Once the underblanket is completely dry, you’ll be able to smell its freshness. Make sure to only use fresh sheets when putting the underblanket back on to your bed.
